Just in Time Testing

Overview

Getting ready for almost anything

Gain the skills you need to succeed in your testing arena, where requirements aren’t always available, crystal clear and frozen for the duration of the project.

You will also receive a CD with valuable resources and handy tools

Dealing with I.T. turbulence

Turbulent development projects experience requirements change almost daily. How do you keep your testing effort on track whilst reacting to fast-changing priorities, technologies, and user needs? This interactive two-day MasterClass, run by Robert Sabourin, provides you with effective skills to manage and track software testing in chaotic environments. You will learn how practical and dynamic test planning can be implemented in different contexts, using a blend of exploratory, scripted, automated and performance test techniques.

Robert focuses on techniques applied to real projects; the approaches have been proven with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications as well as in Agile, Iterative and Waterfall development environments. Real examples demonstrate how JIT testing either replaces or complements more traditional approaches. Examples are drawn from a variety of industry sectors including insurance, medical, banking and telecommunications.

About the instructor

Robert Sabourin (Canada) has more than twenty-five years of management experience, leading teams of software development professionals. He is an adjunct professor of Software Engineering at McGill University and a highly respected member of the software engineering community. He frequently speaks at international conferences, and writes on software engineering, software quality assurance, testing, management, and internationalisation. He is also the author of the popular software testing book, I am a Bug!. Robert has managed, trained, mentored, and coached hundreds of top professionals in the field.

"Robert Sabourin makes it 'real'. His no nonsense approach to testing & management experience made the MasterClass worthwhile. Resources on the CD are excellent and will be of great value as a reusable source."

  • Conduct testing “triage” to find the important bugs first
  • Plan and schedule testing in a dynamic, unpredictable world
  • Put into practice session-based exploratory testing to find showstoppers and change the way you test
  • Blend exploratory, scripted and automated testing
  • Keep things simple
